Georginio Wijnaldum feeling ‘so much better’ after having leg cast removed

Georginio Wijnaldum says he’s feeling “so much better” after having his leg cast removed.

Wijnaldum’s time as a Roma player got off to the worst possible start when he fractured his shin in training, being ruled out for a lengthy period as a result.

Since doing so, he has had to wear a full leg cast and use a wheelchair, but he is now able to walk again, with the help of crutches, after having the cast removed.

It has been replaced with a much smaller one, allowing him to be far more mobile, and the midfielder is feeling much better as a result.

“Exciting day with the medical experts,” he tweeted.

“My plaster has been removed… Wow that feels so much better.”

It’s still all but certain that he won’t be fit in time for the World Cup, but it’s a positive step on his road to recovery nonetheless.
