Gent v Maccabi Haifa Preview | Gent looking to overturn first leg deficit

Gent welcome Maccabi Haifa to Belgium on Wednesday evening for the second leg of their Europa Conference League Round of 32 side. Despite dominating the chances in the first leg, Gent are going into the second leg of their tie 1-0 down. Haitian striker Frantzdy Pierrot scored the only goal of the game in the second half. Gent finished the game with 20 shots in total, but could not find a way to equalise.

At the weekend Gent got their first win of the 2024 calendar year. They overcame a relegation threatened Eupen side to win 2-0 and keep their hopes of a top six finish alive. The fans will be hoping that this result will have given the side some confidence ahead of the European clash. Unfortunately, due to security fears there will be no fans in attendance on Wednesday evening.

Maccabi Haifa come in to this game after drawing 1-1 in the Haifa derby against city rivals Hapoel. The side remain top of the league but are level on points with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
