Gent to face İstanbul Başakşehir F.K without two key defenders

Gent will be without both Joseph Okumu and Jordan Torunarigha for their first leg clash with İstanbul Başakşehir F.K in the Europa Conference league. Neither is fit enough to feature, with the likely scenario either being Nurio Fortuna stepping in as the left-sided central defender in a back three, or the side opting for a back four.

Gent will be at home for the first leg and will be hoping that they can recover a few more players for the return fixture in Turkey. Their opponents are currently on a two game losing streak and are fifth in the Turkish domestic league. The clash will see a return to Belgium for former Anderlecht midfielder Lucas Biglia.

Gent head coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck was keen to reiterate that the side wanted to progress as far as they can in this competition, and do not see it as a hinderance to their domestic targets. Gent are currently in fifth place in the Belgian Pro League, just behind Club Brugge. The defending champions recently sacked head coach Scott Parker after just 12 games in charge.
