Seraing forward Antoine Bernier has been a transfer target for Gent this season, however according to Sacha Tavolieri, the player is potentially moving on to Seraing’s parent club FC Metz at the end of the season.
Metz and Seraing have had a close relationship for a few seasons, with the French side loaning their young talent to the Liege based Seraing. However, following their relegation to Ligue 2, Metz have not been able to provide Seraing with the calibre of player that saw them gain promotion to the Belgian Pro League in the 2020/2021 season and avoid relegation last campaign.
Bernier, a former youth player with Anderlecht, moved to Antwerp but failed to break into the first team. After loan spells with KSK Lierse and F91 Dudelange the player joined Seraing in the summer of 2020. In 85 matches for Seraing the 25 year old has scored 11 goals. Three of those have come this year, with two assists in his 21 league games.
Seraing are currently on a 16 game winless streak at home. If they fail to beat Anderlecht at home this weekend, they will have gone 365 days without a home league victory.
