Gent sign versatile young defender from USL Dunkerque

Gent have announced the signing of 21-year-old Hugo Gambor from USL Dunkerque. The young central defender has signed a deal with the club until 2027. Gambor, who is eligible to represent both France and the Central African Republic at international level, has played 19 Ligue 2 games for the newly promoted side.

Gambor, who can also play in central midfield, began his career with US Orléans before joining FC Paris in the summer of 2020. He never made a first team appearance for the side, spending his time in the French capital playing for the second team. In the summer of 2022 he joined then third tier Dunkerque for free. Since then, he has made 50 appearances for the club as they gained promotion to Ligue 2, scoring once.

Gent have had a busy transfer window so far, with a number of high profile outgoings. They are now looking to bring in a striker before the window shuts to replace Gift Orban and the reportedly departing Hugo Cuypers.
