Gent sign Omri Gandelman to four year deal

Gent have announced the signing of Omri Gandelman on a four-year-deal. The Israeli U23 captain joins from Israeli side Maccabi Netanya for around €2.35m. He will wear the number six for the Buffaloes. Gandelman can operate as a defensive midfielder or as a central defender, giving Gent extra flexibility. The side have been looking for a more defensive minded central midfielder, something that Gandelman will clearly give them.

According to his father, the 23-year-old could have become a professional basketball player having won awards for his basketball ability as a teenager. However, he chose football instead. The versatile defensive player made 110 appearances for Maccabi Netanya, scoring 11 goals and providing one assist. He has also been capped once by the Israeli national team.

Gent have been active in the transfer window this season, and the new squad appear to be coming together well. So far this season they have won all three of their opening games, scoring seven goals and conceding three.
