Gent set to cash in again this January with sale of former Tottenham target Gift Orban

As reported by Het Nieuwsblad, Gent are set to cash in once again this January, with Lyon once again spending big to sign one of their players. This time, the French side have an agreement to bring Nigerian striker Gift Orban to France. According to reports, the initial fee will be €15m, with up to €5m in bonuses. Gent have been aggressive in negotiations, adding in a 20% sell on clause to the deal.

While Orban was on fire after signing in January, his 2023/2024 season has been far less explosive. There was interest in the summer from sides such as Tottenham, but the valuation was not met so he remained in Gent. After scoring 15 goals in 16 league games last season, he has only scored three in 17 so far this campaign. He has faired much better in the Europa Conference League however, with five goals in five games.

His overall numbers for Gent are incredible. In just 52 games, the 21-year-old has scored 32 goals.
