Gent preparing to part with €3m for Stabæk’s Nigerian striker Gift Orban

Voetbalkrant are reporting that Gent are looking to spend €3m on Nigerian striker Gift Orban. The 20-year-old striker was part of Stabæk’s 2022 promotion winning side, with the Nigerian scoring an impressive 16 goals in 22 games. Orban only joined the Norwegian side in 2022 from FC Bison in Nigeria but it now looks like he will already be taking the next step in his career by moving to Belgium.

Gent have been linked with a number of players during the transfer window, including Anderlecht’s Adrien Trebel and Seraing’s Antoine Bernier. However, the only signing they have made was Kamil Piatkowski on loan from RB Salzburg.

The side have seen two departures, with Elisha Owusu joining Auxerre in Ligue 1 and defender Andreas Hanche-Olsen departing for the Bundesliga and Mainz.

Gent are currently fifth in the table, just two points behind defending champions Club Brugge in fourth. The Buffaloes were on the wrong side of a dramatic game against Cercle Brugge, with Jesper Daland scoring a late winner for the Green and Black.
