Genoa striker set to end Montpellier loan and move to Standard Liege

Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that on loan Genoa striker Kelvin Yeboah will end his spell with Montpellier and join Standard Liege instead. The 23-year-old Italian striker has played 15 games for Montpellier this season, scoring one goal. Initially the loan spell had been set to run until the summer, but now he is set to swap France for Belgium.

Genoa and Standard Liege are both part of the 777 group of football clubs, making it a logical move for the player. Standard Liege are in need of more firepower, and the hope is Yeboah can rediscover the form he had shown early on in Austria. During his time with WSG Tirol, he scored 14 goals in 63 games. Yeboah then moved to Sturm Graz, where he scored an impressive 20 goals in 45 games.

Since joining Genoa in the winter of 2022 he has struggled to rediscover his goalscoring touch. He only managed 1 goal in 31 games for the Italian side, before being loaned to Augsburg for the second half of the 2022/2023 season. Again, just one goal came during the spell of 13 games.
