Genk win race to sign Alieu Fadera

Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that Genk have won the race to sign Gambian winger Alieu Fadera. The fee is believed to be close to €4m, with the player being offered a four year deal. Plenty of clubs were reported to have been interested in the Zulte Waregem winger, but it appears that Genk have won out in the end. Despite relegation, Fadera was one of the few bright sparks for the club this season.

The 21-year-old Gambian scored six goals and provided six assists in 33 games during the 2022/2023 season. Genk now add another young exciting attacker to their squad, which could be crucial should Mike Tresor depart. The recently capped Belgian winger set a record for assists during the previous season, and is rumored to be of interest to a number of clubs around Europe.

Genk also know their opponents for the Champions League qualifiers, which will be Swiss side Servette in the second round.
