Genk sign 18 year old Ecuadorian defender Alfred Caicedo

Genk have announced the signing of Alfred Caicedo from Sociedad Deportiva Aucas in Ecuador. The 18 year-old has signed until 2027 and will be eligible to play for Jong Genk in the Challenger Pro League. Caicedo is a current U20 international with Ecuador and can play either right or left back.

Caicedo will join fellow Ecuadorian Angelo Preciado, who joined Genk back in 2021 from Independiente for around 3 million Euros.

Caicedo is Genk’s second signing of the winter transfer window, with Slavia Prague’s Yira Sor also signing until 2027. Sor scored six goals in six games in the Conference League for Slavia Prague during the 2021/2022 season. This season Sor has struggled to get regular playing time in the Czech league, playing just three times. In the Conference League he has played four times, but in neither competition has he managed to find the net.

Genk are currently top of the Belgian Pro League, however they suffered a shock defeat to Kortrijk on their return from the World Cup break.
