Genk reject approach from Southampton for top scorer Paul Onuachu

As reported by Sacha Tavolieri, Genk have rejected an offer from Southampton for their top scorer Paul Onuachu. It appears that the offer was in the region of 12 million Euros for the Nigerian striker, however Genk want to keep Onuachu for their title challenge. Genk are currently 9 points clear at the top of the Belgian Pro League.

Onuachu is the league top scorer with 14 goals from 18 games. He is also the record holder for the most goals in a single Belgian Pro League season. During the 2020/2021 season he scored 33 goals in 38 games. It was expected that the former Midtiylland striker would leave in the summer following the 2020/2021 season, however he has remained with Genk.

Onuachu has also been capped 13 times by the Nigerian national side, scoring three times for the Super Eagles.

Genk have been active in bringing players in during the winter window. So far they have signed Anouar Ait El Hadj,  Yira Sor and Alfred Caicedo.
