Genk give update on injury suffered by captain Bryan Heynen

Genk have released an injury update on their captain Bryan Heynen. The 26-year-old central midfielder suffered an injury during the sides surprise loss to Servette during the week. Heynen was only able to play eight minutes before having to be stretchered off, with fears that he could be on the side-lines for months.

However, after a medical assessment the club have released a statement that claims the injury is not as bad as initially feared. Instead of a number of months, the side expect to be without Heynen for a few weeks. The midfielder was already amongst the goals this season, as he scored during the sides 4-0 win over RWDM. Last season he grabbed 11 goals and provided four assists, by far his best scoring season at Genk.

Even without Heynen, Genk expected to get the better of Servette. The Swiss side were reduced to 10 men early on, but Genk were unable to punish them and ended up being knocked out of Champions League qualification via penalties. Clearly they missed Heynen, their regular penalty taker.
