Genk give trial to Ghanaian Premier League top scorer Mezack Afriyie

According to Ghanaian sports site Footy Dreams, Genk are in the process of acquiring Berekum Chelsea striker Mezack Afriyie. The 19-year-old has scored an impressive 12 goals in 22 games for the side who are currently eighth in the table. Berekum Chelsea have scored 24 goals in 25 games this season, meaning that Afriyie has been responsible for half of their goals. It appears that the side have offered the striker a trial to get a better look at him before making a decision on whether or not to pursue a permanent transfer.

Genk are no strangers to bringing in and developing top African striking talent. Mbwana Samatta joined the side from TP Mazembe and went on to earn himself a move to the Premier League, while Paul Onuachu came via Denmark to do the same. The side are currently top of the Belgian Pro League, despite suffering a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Standard Liege this past weekend.
