Galatasaray interested in Club Brugge’s AFCON bound Nigerian midfielder

Levent Ümit Erol is reporting that Galatasaray are interested in Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika. The 22-year-old has been included in the Nigeria squad for the upcoming AFCON having featured heavily for Ronny Deila’s side this season. He has played 18 times in the Pro League, as well as making six appearances in the Europe Conference League, scoring once.

Onyedika joined the Belgian side from Midtjylland back in the summer of 2022. The side had been desperately looking for a new defensive midfielder and Onyedika was the perfect fit. Since joining, he has played 72 times for the side, mainly as a midfielder but occasionally as a central defender. He also has won three caps for Nigeria. It is unlikely that Club Brugge will be happy to let him go in January, given his importance to the first team. However, should a bid that exceeds their expectations come in, they may consider if it if they can find a replacement in time.

That seems unlikely, so a summer move from the Turkish side may be their best chance of bringing the Super Eagle to Istanbul.
