Eyebrows were certainly raised when it was announced that OH Leuven were signing highly rated Thai international Suphanat Mueanta on loan. The Buriram United forward joined for the 2023-2024 season after amassing an impressive 129 games for his club, scoring 32 goals.
Fans of the Thai national team finally got to see their 21-year-old make his European league debut when he came off the bench for Leuven in their clash with Westerlo. Unfortunately, the forward was unable to turn around the sides fortunes, coming on with the side 2-0 down. He did show some flashes of technical ability that will hopefully be further on show in the coming weeks. The clubs newly appointed head coach Oscar Garcia was watching on from the stands and will have had a chance to see Mueanta in action. This was the forwards second appearance in the space of a few days, having featured in the sides 5-0 cup win over Eendracht Elene-Frotenberge.
The forward is not the first Thai player to join the side linked to Leicester City. In 2018, goalkeeper Kawin Thamsatchanan joined the side from Muangthong United. Thamsatchanan made 20 appearances for the side, keeping two clean sheets.
