Frenkie de Jong has extended his contract with FC Barcelona until the summer of 2029. The Catalan club announced this on Wednesday, putting to bed issues surrounding the 28-year-oldโs initial deal that was set to expire this year.
According to Spanish media, De Jong will reportedly earn around โฌ9-10 million in his new deal, which will take effect from next summer. His release clause has also been increased from โฌ400m to โฌ500m.
The Oranje midfielder has so far played 267 official matches for Barรงa. The only Dutchman to have played more matches for Barcelona is Phillip Cocu with 292 matches.
So far in his Blaugrana career, De Jong has won two league titles, โโtwo Copa del Reys, and two Spanish Super Cups. He also regularly captains the side under Hansi Flick.
