Former Tottenham star Jan Vertonghen not considering international retirement after 2024 European championships

In an interview prior to the Belgium clash with Estonia, Jan Vertonghen has confirmed that he does not see the upcoming European championships in 2024 as his final tournament. As reported by HLN, the 36-year-old is not thinking about international retirement just yet, even if many from the so called Golden Generation have already moved on. Former Tottenham defender Vertonghen is set to gain his 150th cap for the Red Devils against Estonia.

After starting his career with Ajax, Vertonghen moved to London to join Spurs, where he went on to make an impressive 315 appearances and score 12 goals. The defender left England after eight years to join Benfica for two seasons. After 89 appearances for the Portuguese giants, he made his debut in Belgium’s domestic league with Anderlecht. The experienced defender is helping to mentor Zeno Debast, who many consider to be the future of the Red Devils defence.
