Former Serie A midfielder Radja Nainggolan and Antwerp agree to facilitate January transfer following players expulsion from first team

Antwerp have today announced that former Inter Milan midfielder Radja Nainggolan will be no longer part of the A team after his suspension and will be transferred away from the club in January. After a meeting between the player and the club, both sides agreed that a transfer would be the best path forward.

Nainggolan only joined Antwerp during the 2021/2022 season for free from Inter Milan. Prior to joining the Belgian side, the midfielder had spells at Cagliari and Roma. The former Belgian international made 12 appearances in the league this season, scoring once and providing one assist.

Nainggolan was suspended by the club following a string of controversies, including an arrest for a driving offense and being caught smoking in the dugout prior to the match against Standard Liege. The 34 year-olds contract was due to expire at the end of the 2023 season, but the club are keen to cut their losses and get rid of the players high wages.
