Former OH Leuven man tipped to takeover from Stefano Pioli as Cristiano Ronaldoโ€™s head coach at Al-Nassr

HLN are reporting that Cristiano Ronaldoโ€™s new head coach in Saudi-Arabia may be a familiar name to Belgian Pro League fans. The paper is reporting that current Cameroon head coach Marc Brys is one of the names being considered by Ronaldoโ€™s Al-Nassr. With the side having not won the league last season, former AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is expected to leave. Brys is reported to be one of the leading candidates for the role.

For the former OH Leuven head coach, the spotlight surrounding the club due to its plethora of star men, led by Ronaldo, may be a welcome departure from the politics of Cameroonian football. Brys and Samuel Etoโ€™o have had a strained relationship since he took over in 2024. It was well documented that Etoโ€™o, head of the nations football association, did not pick Brys. Instead, it was the Sporting Ministry that did.

Brys already has experience of managing in Saudi Arabia, having spent time with Al-Raed, Najran SC and Al-Faisaly in the past. In Belgium he has had jobs with KV Mechelen, Beerschot, Sint Truiden and most recently OH Leuven, where he was sacked in 2023.
