Former Monaco youth prospect Adrien Bongiovanni set for Charleroi call up

With their current injury crisis, Charleroi have had to look to their second team for players. LDH are reporting that former Monaco academy player Adrien Bongiovanni has been training with the side and could be included in the selection for this weekends fixture against in form Antwerp. The 23-year-old midfielder is the Zebra Elites top scorer this season with 11 goals in 24 games. The side are playing in the third tier of Belgian football, known as the 1ste Nationale.

Belgian born Bongiovanni began his career in the Standard Liege academy before moving to Monaco in 2015. After a number of loan moves to Cercle Brugge AS Béziers and FC Den Bosch, he left the principality permanently to join Patro Eisden in the lower reaches of Belgian football. He left the side for Standard Liege in the summer of 2022, but after just a few months he moved again to join Charleroi’s second team for their season in the third tier.

Bongiovanni only made one appearance for Monaco during his time there, having spent his time with the youth sides. Sunday’s game in Antwerp could be the chance to return what seemed to be a promising career back on track.
