Former Leicester City legend set to join Anderlecht after departing Ligue 1

Santi Aouna is reporting that Kasper Schmeichel is set to sign a one year contract with Anderlecht. The former Leicester City goalkeeper has been a free agent after departing Nice over the summer. He will now compete with Maxime Dupé, who also came from Ligue 1 in the summer. The former Toulouse goalkeeper has been the sides number one to start the season.

The 36-year-old Danish international began his career at Manchester City, but only made nine appearances for the side. In 2009 he joined the then ambitious project at Notts County, but after making 48 appearances he left to join Leeds United. Schmeichel only stayed for one season with Leeds before moving on to Leicester City, where he would become a club legend. In over 10 years with the Foxes, the goalkeeper made 479 appearances and was part of the side that won the Premier League.

Last summer Nice signed the veteran goalkeeper, but after 46 appearances he has left France and is set for what may be his final career move to Brussels.
