Former Hertha Berlin defender Dedryk Boyata no longer in Club Brugge plans after just one season

Het Nieuwsblad have reported that former Hertha Berlin defender Dedryk Boyata is likely to be sold this summer. The 32-year-old central defender only joined Club Brugge in the summer, but so far he has failed to nail down a regular spot in the side. Boyata, who began his career with Manchester City, has played just 14 games for the reining Belgian champions since his €2m move from the Bundesliga.

Club Brugge are looking to revamp the squad this summer after a disappointing season. The defending champions inconsistent league form has seen them well off the pace in the title race, while they are also on their third coach. Despite a strong Champions League campaign, the season will ultimately go down as one where they did not meet expectations and will be settling for European football in UEFA’s third tier competition.

Boyata is not the only one likely to be sold this summer, with a number of other names being mentioned in the press.
