Former Club Brugge and Belgian youth midfielder Brandon Baiye joins Eupen from Clermont Foot

Eupen have announced the signing of Brandon Baiye on a two and a half year deal. The former Club Brugge midfielder has joined the east-Belgian side from Clermont Foot in Ligue 1. The 22 year-old Belgian made seven appearances in Ligue 1 for the French side, as well as an appearance in the Coupe de France.

Baiye joined Clermont in 2019 from Club Brugge on a free transfer after making just two first team appearances for Brugge, one in the league and one in the Super Cup. After two loan spells with SC Austria Lustenau, the midfielder returned to Clermont in the summer of 2022. However, it appears that he is no longer part of their plans for the future. Baiye made 54 appearances for the Austrian side in the second tier and cup, scoring six goals and providing 11 assists.

Baiye will take the spot of Australian international James Jeggo, who recently joined Scottish side Hibernian. Two of Eupen’s summer signings have left the club this winter window, with Jan Kral moving back to the Czech Republic and Sambou Soumano returning to Lorient.
