Former Bristol City striker Gustav Engvall hoping to leave Mechelen in the coming days

According to Voetbalkrant, Mechelen striker Gustav Engvall is working with the club to facilitate a transfer in the coming days. The 26-year-old Swedish forward spent half of last season on loan with Norwegian side Sarpsborg. He made 13 appearances for the Eliteserien side, scoring once and providing three assists. Despite Mechelen struggling for a goal scorer, Engvall has seen limited chances for minutes since returning from Norway.

Engvall began his career with IFK Goteborg in his native Sweden, where he scored 22 goals in 92 games, as well as providing 13 assists. This saw him earn a move to Bristol City, but it did not go to plan as the striker only made nine appearances during his time in England. After loan spells with Djurgardens and another back at IFK the striker moved to Belgium to join Mechelen. In his time with the side he has made 84 appearances, scoring 14 goals and providing 13 assists.

With the Norwegian transfer window still open, there is an option for Engvall to return to Norway in the next few days.
