Former Birmingham City attacker hitting top form for KV Mechelen

Former Birmingham City forward Kerim Mrabti is in fine form at the moment. The 29-year-old grabbed two goals at the weekend in KV Mechelen’s 3-1 victory at home against Westerlo, giving him four goals and two assists in his last five games. The Swedish attacker has scored seven goals in 29 Pro League games this season, with four assists as well. These two goals at the weekend saw Mrabti become the sides top scorer during this campaign.

Mrabti began his career in Sweden, playing for the likes of Uppsala based Sirius and Djurgårdens of Stockholm. During the 2018/2019 season he left Sweden and joined Birmingham City. During two seasons in the midlands he played 19 games, scoring three goals and providing one assist. When his contract in England expired he moved to Belgium to join KV Mechelen. Since 2020 he has played 124 games for the club, scoring 29 goals. He has also been capped once by the Swedish national team.

Mrabti is closing in on his best scoring season for Mechelen, which was during the 2021/2022 season when he scored 10 goals and provided six assists. His 2022/2023 campaign was blighted by injury, but this year he has certainly made up for lost time.
