Former Arsenal and Chelsea youth prospect Zach Medley full of praise for KV Oostende fans

Former Arsenal and Chelsea centre-back Zach Medley was full of praise for the travelling KV Oostende fans following their 1-1 draw with Seraing. Medley was brought on by Yves Vanderhaeghe in the 87th minute and played as a striker. Just four minutes later it was Medley who grabbed a dramatic late equaliser for the away side.

Speaking to the Oostende club media team after the match, Medley said “It was nice to get one in front of the away fans, they were a massive help today as well, I think they were brilliant for us today, thanks to them for travelling the distance”.

Medley also spoke about the instructions Vanderhaeghe had given him before being sent on, “Win as many headers as possible and be a nuisance”.

Medley joined the Belgian side in the summer of 2021 from Arsenal, where he only made three appearances. Medley spent most of this time time on loan from Arsenal, namely with Gillingham and Kilmarnock. The English defender has played 27 times for Oostende, scoring twice.

Medleys dramatic equaliser means Oostende remain in 13th place on 11 points. De Kustboys have only won one of their previous five matches, which was a 1-0 home win over struggling KAS Eupen.
