Former Fulham youth prospect Jón Dagur Thorsteinsson giving OH Leuven a much needed lift

OH Leuven were on a dreadful run before their game against Zulte Waregem last weekend. However, thanks to a scintillating performance from Icelandic midfielder Jón Dagur Thorsteinsson, the side were able to finally record a much needed win. This now gives Thorsteinsson three goals in his last two games, alongside an assist. This gives the 2022 summer signing eight goals and one assist in his 27 appearances for the side.

His first goal showed his fantastic technical ability, as he completely fooled Alessandro Ciranni to slot home past Sammy Bossut. The second, from the spot, was a penalty of high class. Thorsteinsson had scored from the spot last time out against Antwerp as well.

His assist for Casper De Norre saw the winger beat one man before threading a pass through the legs of the defender for the onrushing midfielder.

Leuven have been desperate for a spark in recent weeks, with star players Mathieu Maertens and Mario Gonzales out with injury. Things were starting to look concerning as the side slipped down the table, but another performance from Thorsteinsson this Friday night against Charleroi could see them looking at play-off two once again.
