First mention of bankruptcy surfaces as KV Oostende’s financial plight becomes clear

As reported by HLN, Voetbalkrant and many others, the situation at KV Oostende appears to be rapidly unfolding. The side are set to be taken to court by former head coach Yves Vanderhaeghe over the non payment of his severance payment. It has now become clear that this is one of many payments that the club has failed to make. Even the coaches at the youth level have had late or non delivery of payments.

Outside of the club there are also issues around the lack of payments from the club. It has been reported that certain hotels have not been paid for putting the players up, with those now no longer willing to work with the club. There is even a story that catering companies providing the players with sandwiches has not even been paid.

With the club currently bottom of the Pro League, this story will no doubt worry a fanbase that has made its feelings of dissatisfaction with the board known. They face Zulte Waregem at the weekend in a classic relegation six pointer.
