A fire broke out at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Monday evening, a spokeswoman for the Amsterdam-Amstelland fire department told Algemeen Dagblad.
The fire was reportedly quickly brought under control, yet still caused concern in the surrounding area. There was a lot of smoke, according to the report. โThe fire department was alerted around 8:45 PM to a fire in the Arena. Several fire engines responded, and the situation was upgraded to a โmedium fireโ.โ
Two fire engines were needed to extinguish the fire at the Ajax stadium. The spokesperson described it as a โsmall fire in a kiosk.โ The blaze was quickly brought under control, but smoke remained in the corridors beneath the stands. โThe fire department is now busy ventilating the area.โ
No one was injured in the fire at the Johan Cruijff Arena. The cause is still unknown, as is the extent of the damage.
