Fire at Ajaxโ€™s stadium: Fire trucks called out, blaze quickly extinguished

A fire broke out at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Monday evening, a spokeswoman for the Amsterdam-Amstelland fire department told Algemeen Dagblad.

The fire was reportedly quickly brought under control, yet still caused concern in the surrounding area. There was a lot of smoke, according to the report. โ€œThe fire department was alerted around 8:45 PM to a fire in the Arena. Several fire engines responded, and the situation was upgraded to a โ€˜medium fireโ€™.โ€

Two fire engines were needed to extinguish the fire at the Ajax stadium. The spokesperson described it as a โ€œsmall fire in a kiosk.โ€ The blaze was quickly brought under control, but smoke remained in the corridors beneath the stands. โ€œThe fire department is now busy ventilating the area.โ€

No one was injured in the fire at the Johan Cruijff Arena. The cause is still unknown, as is the extent of the damage.
