As per Voetbal International, Feyenoord are strengthening their squad with the signing of Gonçalo Borges. The 24-year-old winger from FC Porto gives Robin van Persie more options on the right wing.
Borges was previously linked with Feyenoord last winter, but the Rotterdammers have seized the opportunity now. The side from De Kuip will provide their squad with a suitable boost with the Portuguese winger as Borges’ contract, which ran until mid-2027, will be bought out.
In Anis Hadj Moussa, Van Persie had one true right winger in the squad, with Calvin Stengs and Jaden Slory also available on the right. The right-footed Borges played most of his matches for Porto on the right flank, but could also play on the left.
A move to Feyenoord means Borges leaving the club where he made his professional breakthrough. In the 88 official matches he played for Os Dragões, he scored twice and provided nine assists. Borges also played for Porto at the Club World Cup.
