Feyenoord set to sign Japanese striker Ayase Ueda from Cercle Brugge

Feyenoord are close to completing the signing of Ayase Ueda from Cercle Brugge. According to Fabrizio Romano, The Japanese striker travelled to Rotterdam on Tuesday morning to complete his medical before becoming a Feyenoord player. Cercle Brugge signed the 24-year-old last summer from Kashmia Antlers for just €1.2m. Now, he’s set to become the Pro League side’s record sale as they’ll receive over €10m in total.

Ueda experienced a sensational campaign in Belgium last year. The 15-time Japan international scored 23 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions, helping his side to a sixth-place finish overall. Ueda mainly plays as a striker, but he’s also capable of playing on both wings or in attacking midfield.

Ayase Ueda could be a brilliant signing for Arne Slot and Feyenoord, who are looking to retain their league title in the new campaign. After losing their Brazilian striker, Danilo to Rangers, the club are close to signing a brilliant replacement in Ueda.
