Feyenoord set their sights on Fulham defender after failing to seal the loan signing of Nottingham Forest star

According to 1908.NL, Feyenoord are set to make a move for Fulham defender Kevin Mbabu. The Swiss international is currently out on loan with Bundesliga side FC Augsburg, where he’s featured 12 times so far this season. Feyenoord will approach Fulham over the possibility of signing the right-back on loan for the remainder of the season, if the club and the player are keen to cancel the ongoing loan.

Feyenoord are on the hunt for a new right-back, with Bart Nieuwkoop struggling with injury issues and Gernot Trauner regularly out of action. This week, Nottingham Forest rejected an approach from Feyenoord for Neco Williams. The Welsh defender is another top target for the current Eredivisie champions, who were looking at signing the defender on loan with an option to buy. Forest were quick to reject the approach.

Kevin Mbabu could be the perfect option for Feyenoord, if they’re able to persuade Fulham into agreeing on the move. At 28 years old the speedy Swiss defender can still perform at the highest level, after impressing in the past with Young Boys and Wolfsburg. The former Newcastle defender is currently valued at €3.5m by Transfermarkt.
