Feyenoord lose goalkeeper Justin Bijlow for extended period

Justin Bijlow is set to miss eight weeks after sustaining an injury during Feyenoord’s game at the weekend. The 26-year-old goalkeeper suffered the injury in the first half of the sides away match against AZ. As a result, the goalkeeper will also miss the chance to stake a claim to be the Netherlands starting goalkeeper at the Euros during the upcoming friendlies against Scotland and Germany.

Thankfully for Feyenoord, they were still able to win the game at the weekend despite the injury to Bijlow. 24-year-old midfielder Mats Wieffer scored the only goal of the game after just six minutes as the side won 1-0. This means that Arne Slot’s side remain unbeaten since their 2-1 defeat to Celtic in the Champions League back in December. Since then they have won five games in all competitions, with two draws.

Timon Wellenreuther is now set for an extended spell in goal. The 28-year-old German, formerly of Anderlecht, made his first appearance since October 2023.
