Feyenoord identify Ricardo Pepi as potential replacement for Santiago Gimenez if the Mexican departs this summer

According to VoetbalPrimeur, Feyenoord Rotterdam are interested in the talented 20-year-old, Ricardo Pepi. The striker has spent this season on loan at FC Groningen from Augsburg.

Despite Groningen’s relegation from the Eredivisie, Pepi has netted 12 goals in 26 appearances for the club. Augsburg are looking to sell the striker when he returns to Germany at the end of the season. Feyenoord are said to be one of several clubs interested in the US International. Serie A side Lazio are also reported to be interested in Pepi.

Representatives from Feyenoord and Augsburg reportedly met this week to discuss a possible transfer for Pepi. Feyenoord are keen on signing the former FC Dallas forward on loan with the option to eventually make it a permanent deal. There is a possibility that Arne Slot’s side could lose 14-goal forward Santiago Gimenez this summer. The Mexican has played a pivotal role in their Eredivisie title fight and has attracted interest from other top European clubs.

Ricardo Pepi will play in Groningen’s final three games of the season before Augsburg decide on his future. Pepi has proven that he’s got what it takes to score goals in the Eredivisie. He could be a brilliant accusation for Feyenoord if the league leaders require another striker in the summer.
