Feyenoord want to talk to Quinten Timber about his expiring contract, ideally avoiding the midfielderโs exit on a free transfer next term.
Timber was open to leaving this summer, and according to director Dennis te Kloese in an exclusive interview with the Algemeen Dagblad, โThere was very serious interest in him.โ
Bayer Leverkusen were closely linked with the 24-year-old, but an agreement with the Rotterdam club was not reached.
โIt didnโt happen, but not because we didnโt want to cooperate. Now, the question remains whether weโll extend the contract or not. Well, we have time to have a cup of coffee now. We have very good contact with him; we donโt notice anything wrong with him. Heโs very professional.โ
Timber lost his captainโs armband to Sem Steijn this summer, with Robin van Persie explaining that his contract situation played a role in this. Timber was signed from FC Utrecht in 2022 and will remain a regular in Rotterdam this season.
