Feyenoord keen to open contract negotiations with โ€œvery professionalโ€ Quinten Timber

Feyenoord want to talk to Quinten Timber about his expiring contract, ideally avoiding the midfielderโ€™s exit on a free transfer next term.

Timber was open to leaving this summer, and according to director Dennis te Kloese in an exclusive interview with the Algemeen Dagblad, โ€œThere was very serious interest in him.โ€

Bayer Leverkusen were closely linked with the 24-year-old, but an agreement with the Rotterdam club was not reached.

โ€œIt didnโ€™t happen, but not because we didnโ€™t want to cooperate. Now, the question remains whether weโ€™ll extend the contract or not. Well, we have time to have a cup of coffee now. We have very good contact with him; we donโ€™t notice anything wrong with him. Heโ€™s very professional.โ€

Timber lost his captainโ€™s armband to Sem Steijn this summer, with Robin van Persie explaining that his contract situation played a role in this. Timber was signed from FC Utrecht in 2022 and will remain a regular in Rotterdam this season.
