Ferencvaros v Genk Preview | Genk looking to put Conference League destiny in their own hands

Genk travel to Ferencvaros this evening knowing a win would go a long way towards qualification for the next round of the Europa Conference League. Both sides are level with five points from three games, as well as with a goal difference of plus two. Fiorentina are top of the table with the same amount of points, just with a superior goal difference. Last time around the sides drew 0-0 in Belgium.

Given that Fiorentina will be expected to beat Cukaricki, who have lost all three games and only scored once so far this campaign, a win for either Genk or their Hungarian opponents will help create distance between the sides. Genk are coming into the game following a 3-2 defeat to defending champions Antwerp. For Ferencvaros, they also suffered defeat at the weekend, losing 2-1 to Kecskemeti TE. They remain top of the table but are level on points with Paksi SE in second, although they do have a game in hand.

Surprisingly, Genk are led by right-back Daniel Munoz when it comes to goals. The Colombian international has four to his name, with Bilal El Khannouss and Joseph Paintsil level on three behind him. Paintsil has also provided three assists this season. Hungarian international Barnabas Varga is the sides top scorer with eight goals in nine league games this season. He has also scored two goals in the Conference League. Israeli international Mohammed Abu Fani leads the way for the Hungarians in terms of assists. The 25-year-old summer signing has provided nine already this season.
