Female Ajax players have spoken out on Marc Overmars’ behaviour when he was at the club, saying that he groped them.
Overmars, now at Antwerp, was removed from his position as Director of Football early this year after it was discovered that he had sent “inappropriate” text messages to female members of staff, including photos of a sexual nature.
Het Parool have now revealed that he behaved similarly with members of the female Ajax team, speaking to the players about their experiences with him.
One player told the publication of an incident that saw Overmars grope her while she was in the physio room, playing it off as a joke afterwards.
“He dismissed it as a joke, but it wasn’t experienced that way,” they said.
Two players said he would often come to the physio room, where players are often not fully clothed when receiving treatment, uninvited.
“I knew from a few players that they had experiences that were not right,” said a former player.
Overmars has chosen not to respond to the allegations made against him.
