FC Utrechtโ€™s dynamo Zidane Iqbal on fasting: โ€œItโ€™s difficult to combine that with football in the first weekโ€

Zidane Iqbal played an important role as FC Utrecht beat NAC Breda 1-0 last Saturday. As per UtrechtFans, the Iraqi international was reportedly satisfied with the match, although the midfielder needed some time to physically recharge due to Ramadan.

โ€œIt was tough, because Iโ€™m fasting,โ€ Iqbal told the camera ofย FC Utrechtย TV. โ€œThatโ€™s tough to combine with football the first week, but then your body gets used to it. But the first week is always a bit tough. Saturday was also a bit of a switch, because your body reacts to it.โ€

โ€œBut yes, I was fine,โ€ he continues. โ€œIt was also a nice match againstย NAC Bredaย . We won again, after quite a few matches. We still have ten finals to go. And who knows? We have our goals to achieve and everyone will give 100 percent for that. What did I think of my own game against NAC? I enjoyed the match.โ€

โ€œIt was fun to be on the pitch and to play. When you have players who work with you and help you, itโ€™s really nice. To be honest, I donโ€™t read comments after games, but my father told me that I had positive comments. But as a player, you have a kind of natural feeling when you come off the pitch. I had that, so I donโ€™t have to check social media.โ€

For FC Utrecht, their next game sees them travel to Tilburg to take on Willem II on Sunday, as they look to keep their grasp on the Eredivisieโ€™s third-place position with Feyenoord on their tails.
