FC Twente signed Sondre Ørjasaeter from Sarpsborg 08 this week. The 21-year-old left winger was introduced to his new teammates on Wednesday.
Ørjasaeter put pen to paper on a four-year deal in Enschede to become the most expensive Twente signing since their return to the Eredivisie with Manfred Ugalde. The fee is believed to be €5 million.
“This is a big transfer for me too, the first step in my career abroad. When you get an opportunity like this and the timing and the club are right, you have to seize it and go for it,” Ørjasaeter said through FC Twente’s channels.
Ørjasaeter played 46 games for Sarpsborg, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists. Interestingly, he also completed the most dribbles in the Norwegian league this season (33). Only two players were involved in more attempts on goal than the young Norwegian, too, who made 39 shots and created 29 chances.
FC Twente’s technical director, Jan Streuer, is delighted with the club’s latest signing. “He’s going to give us something extra. To make this transfer possible, the club has made an extra effort, including financially. That underscores the confidence we have in him. Sondre is still young, is now making his first move abroad, and will find his feet at FC Twente in the coming period. We’re going to give him that time.”
Ørjasaeter unfortunately won’t be ready for Twente’s clash with PSV this weekend due to a minor injury.
