RKC Waalwijk livewire Ihattaren set to follow technical director to Groningen

Mohamed Ihattaren is close to leaving RKC Waalwijk for FC Groningen, according to Leon ten Voorde of De Ballen Verstand podcast.

It seems that the midfielder’s departure from RKC is inevitable, as the ‘Pride of the North’ join the likes of FC Twente in registering their interest for the former PSV man.

Ihattaren signed a multi-year contract with Waalwijk at the start of this season, but unfortunately, could not prevent relegation, despite form that saw him notch four goals and four assists in 24 outings.

After the last league match against Go Ahead Eagles (5-3), Ihattaren made it clear that it was his last RKC appearance, although his time in the Netherlands wasn’t yet over.

De Ballen Verstand suggested that Ihattaren was not a reinforcement for Twente. Ten Voorde was brief about this. “He’s going to FC Groningen. He’s going with Mo Allach.” In early April, it was announced that Allach would become the new technical director of Groningen.
