FC Astana interested in Cameroonian international Samuel Oum Gouet

Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Kazakhstan side FC Astana are interested in KV Mechelen’s Cameroonian international midfielder Samuel Oum Gouet. The 25-year-old has spent most of this season with Mechelen’s reserve side, with the club hoping to sell the player to alleviate their financial struggles. There was reported interest in the central midfielder during the winter transfer window, however the player remained with Mechelen. Oum Gouet still has one year remaining on his deal with Mechelen, having joined the side in 2021 from Austrian side Altach. He has made 44 appearances for the club, while also being capped 21 times by the Cameroonian national team. The midfielder was part of the 2022 World Cup squad for Cameroon in Qatar.

Mechelen are also looking into ways to bring back Dries Wouters next season, with the Schalke loanee set to return to Germany in the summer. Mechelen do have a purchase option, but matching the players contract with the German club may be an issue. Up front, the side are also showing interest in former Eupen and Bosnia striker Smail Prevljak.
