Excelsior winger reveals he rejected Swansea, Lorient, Como and Lecce in January

In an interview with Ziggo Sport, Excelsior winger Couhaib Driouech has revealed he turned down a number of clubs as he did not believe leaving the Netherlands at that point was a wise career move. The 21-year-old had offers from Swansea, Lorient, Como and Lecce during the winter window. However, he was close to a move to fellow Eredivisie side PSV during the window but the move fell through on deadline day.

Driouech has scored four goals and provided four assists in 21 games for Excelsior this season He has been with the side since leaving SC Heerenveen in the summer of 2021. In 92 games for the club he has scored 12 goals. Driouech has also been capped by the Moroccan U23 side.

Excelsior are in a poor run of form at the moment. The side from Rotterdam have lost five games in a row and sit in 15th place in the league. They are only three points ahead of RKC Waalwijk who occupy the relegation play-off spot.
