Excelsior have presented Gyan de Regt, after he left Vitesse on a free. The 21-year-old left-winger has signed for two years, with an option for another year.
De Regt was one of few bright points for the struggling Arnhem side, as he scored four goals and registered seven assists in 35 Keuken Kampioen Divisie games.
โI have been in contact with technical manager Niels van Duinen for quite some time nowโ, he said via club channels. โI have always felt confident in him. In addition, I know Excelsiorโs reputation as a club that dares to give young players opportunities, also to grow further later. Furthermore, the promotion to the Eredivisie was, of course, an important point, and I have spoken to other players about the atmosphere in the club. What I have heard about that also suits me well.โ
Niels van Duinen sees De Regt as a true winger, with depth and speed: โGyan can also use the space behind the opponentโs last line. That is, certainly in our style of football, a relevant weapon. Despite the fact that Gyan is only 21 years old, he has already played a lot of minutes in the past seasons, both in the Eredivisie and in the KKD. In addition, he has a great mindset, he really wanted to come to Excelsior and he comes from our region.โ
