Eupen midfielder set to miss weeks with hand injury

Eupen have suffered a blow in their battle to avoid relegation this season, with the club announcing that Serbian midfielder Milos Pantovic is set to miss a few weeks with a hand injury. The 27-year-old former Union Berlin midfielder joined Eupen in most recent transfer window. So far he has played 12 games, scoring twice and providing two assists.

With such a thin squad, Eupen can ill afford to lose players like Pantovic for lengthy periods of time. Despite only scoring twice, Pantovic is joint third top scorer for the side, such has been their woes in front of goal. In the summer the side brought in Bartosz Bialek from Wolfsburg on loan, with the hope that he would be their main striker. However, he picked up an injury before the season even began and has yet to make an appearance for the side.

Florian Kohfeldt’s side are currently fourth from bottom, two points adrift of safety. They have won four, drawn three and lost 10 of their 17 games so far this season. On Friday night they have a huge match against second bottom Westerlo away.
