Eredivisie preview | PSV Eindhoven vs Groningen

PSV Eindhoven will be looking to maintain their title challenge as they welcome Groningen to the Philips Stadion on Saturday despite picking up just two league wins in their last five outings. Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side will be given a wake up call after seeing AZ Alkmaar leapfrog Feyenoord to top of the Eredivisie table after thrashing Excelsior 5-0 on Friday night.

The result will serve Groningen well as they sit four points from safety and seven behind Excelsior in the table. However, they need to urgently address their current form as they are on a nine-match winless run in the Eredivisie with just two draws in that time.

Latest form ahead of the Eredivisie clash:

PSV: W-D-W-L-W

Groningen: D-L-L-L-L

Brazilian forward Savio remains on the sidelines with a muscular problem while Joey Veerman will be one to keep an eye on having been involved in three goals in his last two appearances.

Attacking midfielder Luciano Valente has sat out each of his side’s last two matches with a knock but the teenager could return to the squad this weekend.
