Eredivisie golden boot race heating up with three in contention

Going into matchday 21 of the Eredivisie, three players remain with a chance of winning the golden boot. AZ Alkmaar’s Evangelos Pavlidis, Feyenoord’s Santiago Giminez and PSV’s Luuk de Jong are all chasing the title of top scorer in the Dutch top division this season.

At the moment, Greek forward Pavlidis is leading the way with an incredible 20 goals in 20 games. The 25-year-old has already scored eight more goals than he did last season in five less games. However, he does have less assists this season, with just one after having eight last time around. In total, Pavlidis has scored 71 goals in 123 games for AZ since joining from Willem II in 2021.

22-year-old Mexican forward Giminez is just one goal behind the Greek striker with 19, alongside four assists. Again he is doing better than last time around, with 15 goals in 32 games last season. Giminez has scored 44 goals for Feyenoord since leaving Mexican side Cruz Azul in 2022.

Veteran Dutch forward de Jong is showing no signs of slowing down. 18 goals in 20 games, as well as seven assists, has the Dutch striker still playing at a top level. The former Barcelona, Newcastle, Sevilla and Barcelona striker re-joined PSV in the summer of 2022. During his first spell with PSV between 2014 and 2019, de Jong scored an impressive 112 goals in 204 games. Since returning, he’s scored 44 goals in 71 games.
