Emir Ortakaya is back in Belgium. The young Turkish defender was on loan with Westerlo at the start of the season but had his deal cut short after not featuring much for the club. He returned to parent club Fenerbahçe but is now back in Belgium. Relegation favourites Beerschot have brought Otakaya back to the Pro League until the end of the season. There is no purchase option included in the deal for the 20-year-old.
Otakaya only made five appearances for Westerlo this season before returning to his parent club. He has never made an appearance for the Fenerbahçe first team. During the 2022/2023 season he spent the year on loan at Goztepe, where he played 34 games, 32 of which were in the Turkish second tier. He then returned to the second tier to play for Kocaelispor in the 2023/2024 season. He played 31 games for the club, scoring three goals.
