As per Voetbal International’s review of German media, Ajax arrive as the ideal attraction for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League round of 16. The Amsterdammers take to the tie as underdogs against the Bundesliga’s third-placed team. This is how Frankfurt, or Die Adler, may line up.
Kicker’s headline states that “Ajax (come) as a crossroads for Eintracht”. The outlet see Ajax as “the ideal attraction” to get back into the right flow.
“The leader of the Dutch competition is currently not among the international top ranks. The team still does not seem very stable. Victories against smaller clubs are often achieved with difficulty, while performances against stronger opponents are inconsistent. The team in third place in the Bundesliga is not the underdog in this duel”, is the conclusion. Eintracht recently lost to Bayern Munich (4-0) and Bayer Leverkusen (1-4).
Favourites or not, Eintracht will have to do without a few of their key players in Amsterdam. Robin Koch is out due to a concussion and Igor Matanovic and Timothy Chandler are also sidelined due to foot and thigh injuries, respectively.
With Rasmus Kristensen and Mario Götze, two former Eredivisie players are expected in the starting line-up by Frankfurter Rundschau.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s probable line-up: Trapp; Kristensen, Collins, Tuta, Theate; Gotze, Dahoud, Larsson, Brown; Wahi, Ekitike.
