Dusan Tadic has explained why he’s struggling to perform well for Ajax this season.
Usually the team’s star player, Tadic has made a disappointing start to the 2022/campaign, getting two assists and no goals in the first five matches of the league season.
He initially played as a striker before being moved to the number 10 position, and then was put on the right wing to compensate for Antony leaving, and he says that constant change of positions has made things hard for him..
“That’s difficult,” he told Het Parool.
“Automatisms are missing. You don’t know when to give or not to give a ball, or to expect it. You have to be able to find each other with your eyes closed. Now it is sometimes difficult to find each other with eyes open.”
He has been criticised by many for his performances, including Rafael van der Vaart, and he respects their opinions, saying it’s up to him to prove them wrong.
He himself has no doubt that he and the club are still the right fit for one another.
“People are entitled to their opinions. I respect that. I have to answer on the field,” he said.
“I really needed Ajax and Ajax needed me. We are a perfect couple, still.”
